Why should you vote for me?
I stand for dedication. That includes sticking with a goal against all odds. I know that to improve the City we must focus on the building blocks, and the first and foremost block is the school system. The Toledo Public Schools have pockets of success, but there are large parts of the district that are still facing challenges and not performing to where they should be. I will work to ensure every child and every school has a first class education.
With your help, once I get on the school board I will focus on the following:
- Priority 1: Stronger Academics- to ensure every child leaves the Toledo Public School system prepared.
- Priority 2: Fiscal Responsibility and Reform - because its your money.
- Priority 3: Transparent operation and engagement - make the district participate on your time, provide friendly service, and advocate for open government

Priority 1. A world-class curriculum to prepare all students for the 21st Century.
- a. Ensure that every school is preparing its students, our future, for the 21st Century.
- b. Push for a college prep, skilled trade, and creative academic options.
- c. Ensure the students have the tools they need to be successful.

Priority 2. Fiscal responsibility and reform. 
- a. Use the knowledge and skills our community has to help the district.
- b. Solicit citizen and district feedback to save money (See http://www.ideasfortps.com).
- c. Work with district unions to cut costs while providing the same level of service and keeping the same benefits.

Priority 3. An transparency, citizen engagement, and a community accountable system.
- a. Push for streaming live and archiving of the meetings so you can listen
to the meetings and participate on your own schedule. - b. Keeping you informed using the latest technology.
- c. Employing technology to inform and engage.
Some say the district can't change. I say it can and will remain dedicated to ensure it gets accomplished. In the last year, I have remained dedicated and have tried to make the district better from the outside. Some of the issues have not been accomplished, but I am undeterred.
Issues I have advocated for in the last year and will do so once elected:
- Transparency: advocating the district to broadcast their meetings on the Web and advocating for an open process. I have reported the meetings on the Internet, local radio station, and posted the audio files as well as well as providing happenings.
- Improving TPS academics. Advocated for the re-establishment of Chinese programs in the district.
- Improving the financial performance by creating a Web site ( http://www.ideasfortps.com ) for citizens to submit money saving ideas. Solicited around 18 million dollars of ideas.
- Advocated for the district to improve customer service and responsiveness.
- I have continued to tutor, talk to students, and visit the schools to see what is going on.

I also have a strong background in technology and currently work for the University of Michigan School of Education as a Webmaster.
